Coaching: Grateful for the Opportunity to Witness…

I keep a gratitude journal and at some point I plan on writing about what a powerful influence it has been in my life.  Today though I want to discuss what I wrote in that journal yesterday:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as witness to the amazing changes my clients are making in their lives.”

An individual comes to me when they are overwhelmed by one or more areas of their life.  The source of overwhelm might be the stuff they’ve over-purchased compulsively for years and is crowding them out of their home.  The overwhelm might source from trying to squeeze a seemingly infinite number of tasks into a finite number of hours.  Their overwhelm may stem from living with adult ADHD and wanting to find a life that fits for them and their brain type instead of constantly feeling like the square peg being forced into the round hole.  Or, the source of overwhelm may be in realizing they’ve never really had a plan for organizing various areas of their life and they are ready to assume a more proactive stance, as opposed to the reactive one they’ve lived in for years. Whatever the source, my passion as coach is serving as guide to these individuals as they journey to the other side of overwhelm.

Yesterday I worked with three individuals, who are as different from each other as you can imagine, a former compulsive shopper who is downsizing, a graduate student with ADHD, and an established professional experiencing a life awakening.  As different as they are, they share in common a desire to develop awareness around their situations and engage around bettering them. I applaud each of them, and all of my clients for their willingness to roll up their sleeves and do the sometimes tough, yet often fun and rewarding work of creating change in their lives.  Witnessing their journeys is an amazing experience and one that I am truly grateful for.
